Fujitsu Releases New Version of IP-9500e MPEG-4 AVC Encoder

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Fujitsu Computer Products of America has announced the latest revision of its IP-9500e MPEG-4 AVC encoder for real-time broadcast quality contribution content. It combines a powerful, cost-effective solution for full HD video capture over DVB-ASI and IP with the IP-9500’s superior picture quality and excellent 300-millisecond total latency. As a result, the revision 3.1 firmware expands the IP-9500’s capabilities for HD satellite news gathering (SNG) applications.

With the help of existing broadcast satellite infrastructure, it is now possible to provide HD SNG and transmission of live events with IP-9500e’s exceptional picture quality at low bit rates and low-latency. Incorporating an improved feature set to cost-effectively meet broadcasters’ real-time content delivery needs, the revision 3.1 firmware extends the IP-9500e’s satellite transmission capabilities.

As broadcasters look to improve their portfolio of HD programming to meet viewer demand, the ability to capture and transmit high-quality HD signals from the field is critical. While the revision 3.1 firmware facilitates broadcasters and their affiliates to cost-effectively expand their satellite news service to include full HD content from the field, the IP-9500e has set the industry standard when it comes to picture quality and low-latency.

Fujitsu will demonstrate the IP-9500 with revision 3.1 firmware during the HD World Conference & Expo, October 15-16, 2008, at the Javits Convention Center in New York.

As the Fujitsu IP-9500e provides the best picture quality for HD content, it is an essential component to the HD satellite news delivery services of many companies. By allowing companies to transmit high-definition feed at the same data rates as standard definition feeds, it also reduces overall costs.
