Cistera Implements UC Solution for Schools in Birdville Independent School District, Texas
Cistera Networks, a provider of enterprise application platforms and engines, announced the delivery and implementation of a Unified Communications (News - Alert) solution for schools in Birdville Independent School District or BISD.
BISD and Cistera will together provide UC solutions to the Texas school district’s schools. The solutions are flexible, scalable and at the same time cost effective. This partnership between Cistera (News - Alert) and Birdville ISD’s Information Management Services department or TIMS has produced an environment that guides and protects approximately twenty four thousand students in that area, said official sources. “It’s all about safety,” emphasized Julie Wallace, TIMS’ executive director at the school district. She went on to say that Cistera solutions helped her achieve her mission to provide teachers, faculty and administrators with a secure environment. This will help them focus on teaching and educating, she noted. According to Wallace the communication services offered to the schools had to be seamless, integrated, efficient and cost effective. Her team worked closely with the schools’ resources and leveraged the integrated solutions from Cistera to meet their communications needs. Birdville makes use of many Convergence (News - Alert) Solutions provided by Cistera. Event Alerting and Notification solutions have specific features which serve to assure students, faculty and the administrators that they are safe and that their welfare is protected. Darrell Maxey, telecommunications technician for the ISD said, “With Cistera RapidBroadcast, All principals receive instant email notification of emergency 911 calls via the smart phones they carry. Cistera consulting and services resources customized this solution to specifically meet the school district’s requirements.” Maxey added that with each 911 call, 7 to 10 individuals are notified immediately that an emergency call has been made thereby ensuring that immediate action is taken. The centralization of Cistera solutions used by the school district eliminates the problems generally associated with maintaining multiple systems at multiple locations. The ISD will be able to manage the ISD’s entire time scheduling from a central location saving a lot on time, said company sources. The partnership between Cistera Networks (News - Alert) and Birdville independent school district has helped deploy an optimized Unified Communication system that enhances the safety and lives of the school district’s teachers, administrators, students and parents. Also a rich communications environment allows the ISD to engage and encourage students and staff to work without any anxiety regarding safety. Shamila Janakiraman is a contributing editor for TMCnet.
