Coyote Point Equalizer GX Deployed by the University of Alberta School of Business
Coyote Point Systems (News - Alert), a major provider of application delivery and acceleration solutions for small- to medium-size enterprises, announced the deployment of Coyote Point Equalizer E450GX systems by the University Of Alberta School Of Business to guarantee fast, dependable and secure application delivery for Blackboard (News - Alert) servers.
"When we adopted the Blackboard Learning Management System, we knew we would need a load balancing solution to ensure optimal application performance and availability," said Michael Getz, Director of IT, University Of Alberta School Of Business. "We researched a number of options and were pleased to discover that Coyote Point provided all the functionality we needed at a price-point within our budget. The load balancers have been in place for over a year now. We have not experienced a single moment of downtime, nor have we needed to adjust the configuration since installation. Further, to be certain our Blackboard service was going to be rock solid prior to launching in production -- we hired a company with expertise in system stress test analysis to simulate hundreds to thousands of concurrent connections performing various common tasks on the Blackboard LMS. Our three application servers reached their saturation points well ahead of the load balancers. This leads us to conclude that the Coyote Point E450GX has a greater capacity for concurrent connections than our students and instructors will ever require."
E450GXs was chosen mainly due to its ability to perform server load balancing, intelligent content routing, secure SSL acceleration and offload across VMware ESX servers. This facilitates IT personnel in having greater control over the delivery of the Blackboard application and granular application-level speeding up of their virtual servers.
In a release, Jim Puchbauer (News - Alert) the Director of Marketing, Coyote Point Systems said "Coyote Point recently joined the Blackboard Partner Program. With the rapid migration of so many educational institutions to online course management, becoming a Blackboard partner allows us to stay on top of the numerous technological changes, and ensure that our Application Delivery Controllers are providing our customers with state of the art equipment to handle their changing needs."
Coyote Point Systems will be exhibiting at Blackboard World from July 14-16, in Orlando, Fla. Calvin Azuri is a contributing editor for TMCnet. To read more of Calvin's articles, please visit his columnist page. Edited by Marisa Torrieri LATEST EDUCATION NEWS
