Internap, an Internet products and services company, has stated that Apex Learning, a provider of digital curriculum for secondary education has established an additional disaster recovery site in Atlanta, GA with Internap's (News - Alert) colocation and Performance IP premier connectivity services.
According to officials, the new, fully-redundant disaster recovery site will be housed in Internap's Atlanta data center and will be used as a back-up for its primary data site, located at Internap's Seattle facility.
Apex (News - Alert) Learning offers comprehensive online courses in math, science, English, social studies, world languages, electives, and advanced placement that are successfully used for credit recovery, remediation, alternative schools, dropout prevention and recovery, distance learning, and exam preparation. For schools that are in need of real-time access to online content, network uptime and reliability is very essential. With Internap's colocation and Performance IP connectivity services, Apex will be able to maintain maximum availability and optimized access to courseware.
Officials with Apex Learning have commented that after considerable due diligence reviewing numerous vendor options, it was an easy decision to deploy Internap's solutions. Apex has been an Internap partner since 2000 and Internap has always worked with Apex more like a partner than a vendor, taking the time to understand the curriculum provider's specific needs and delivering a solution that meets all requirements.
Peter Evans, senior vice president of marketing at Internap added that as more industries like online education move to Software-as-a-Service and cloud-based delivery models, the quality of the underlying network that supports these applications and services is becoming the critical link for business performance and therefore a core business differentiator. Internap is in a unique position to help enterprises deliver on the promise that SaaS (News - Alert) providers extend to their customers - anywhere, anytime availability.
Internap has claimed that the Internap Performance IP service offers companies a stable, predictable, high-performance Internet solution. Also businesses can speed their time to market and reduce capital spending by colocating with Internap's carrier-class, state-of-the-art data centers instead of building their own.
Recently, Internap announced XIP traffic acceleration and Carleton University selected Internap CDN.
