An educational DVD created by renowned music educator Julie Lyonn Lieberman for string players, string teachers, and their students, fosters an elegant and pain-free approach to music making.

"Violin and Viola Ergonomics: Determine the Optimum (News - Alert) Playing Position and Support for Your Body-Type" is the only educational tool which provides an overall view of the issues that decides instrument position and support, according to Lieberman.

Violin and Viola Ergonomics determines the optimum playing position and support for string player's body type.

Lieberman, said, 'String players don't have to suffer or injure themselves! They can create a comfortable, well-supported, dynamic dance with their instrument and this DVD will show them how.'

The 90-minute DVD is priced $23.95. It is distributed internationally by Hal Leonard.

The DVD includes the following topics:

--Instrument position as decided by body-type;
--Natural joint and muscle function;
--Working with four planes for arrangement;
--Personalizing your chin- and shoulder-rest to work more expeditiously for you;
--Creating positive practice habits in a contributing environment;
--Technical consequences and their effect on instrument hold;
--Postural issues and their result on instrument hold;
--Reprogramming muscular habits; and so on

Violin and Viola Ergonomics is Lieberman's fifth educational DVD. "You Are Your Instrument," which was her critically acclaimed book, came out in 1993. It was one of the first books published in the world to give an overall resource for injured musicians.

Lieberman is also the author of about eight music books, six instructional DVDs, two National Public Radio series, the national eco-program, The Green Anthem and over fifty music magazine articles.

An improvising violinist and singer, composer, recording artist, and educator, Lieberman released a curriculum which invites the students to compose, improvise, assume leadership skills, and learn the traditions, techniques, and repertoire of music from all over  the world, with a strong stress on music created in America.
