Some of the special activities planned for this year's Math and Science Week at Cedar Point amusement park/resort in Sandusky, Ohio, are aeronautics, science missions, experiments and a NASA astronaut.
To participate in the educational programs and activities that are designed for middle and high school students, school groups from the around the Midwest are visiting the Sandusky ride park located on the shores of Lake Erie.
From May 17-21, the five-day event is held at various locations along the park's midways.
Some of the leading participants in the event are NASA's Glenn Research Center of Cleveland, The Great Lakes Science Center, Cleveland, COSI "Center of Science and Industry of Columbus" and the Detroit Science Center.
NASA's Glenn Research Center and the Great Lakes Science Center will team up throughout the entire week to present exhibits featuring Aeronautics and Microgravity Man, Cedar Point (News - Alert) officials said.
The Detroit Science Center is presenting three displays on physical science: Gravity & Centripetal Force, Conservation of Angular Momentum and Distribution of Mass. COSI of Columbus is providing exhibits and displays.
Cedar Point officials said NASA astronaut Captain Michael J. Foreman is visiting the park on Friday, May 21. Foreman has flown more than 5,000 hours in more than 50 different aircrafts.
Foreman has also been a Mission Specialist on two space shuttle missions logging more than 26 days in space, including five spacewalks. Foreman is making a presentation at 11 a.m. in the Good Time Theatre.
During the science week Cedar Point also hosted special events by The Wright Brass ensemble and Automobile Racing Club of America or "ARCA."
Cedar Point provides integrated Voice over Internet Protocol or "VoIP" switching technologies for service providers.
In March, Sigma Systems (News - Alert), a provider of Advanced IP Service Fulfillment solutions, and Cedar Point announced partnership to provide Next-Generation Operators an integrated VoIP solution for faster commercial and residential deployments, TMCnet reported.
