Metrico's Nomad 2.0 Promises Faster and Cost-Effective Evaluation of Mobile Experience

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Metrico Wireless (News - Alert), a provider of performance evaluation solutions for mobile devices, launched Nomad 2.0 which can simultaneously evaluate both call performance and voice quality on mobile devices, independent of their technology.

Nomad 2.0, according to company officials, enables mobile operators and device manufacturers to reduce the time it takes to measure the performance of mobile devices prior to commercial launch by as much as 50 percent.

The solution has a uniquely designed user interface that supports any device using the Bluetooth technology or a wired connection to generate thousands of calls automatically. It can measure the effect of incoming emails during these calls.

Nomad 2.0 also can capture a wide range of performance issues like dropped calls, failed calls, voice quality and so on. It supports both lab and field based tests, eliminating the need for technicians to manually dial hundreds and thousands of calls to evaluate the performance.

Metrico's Nomad 2.0 also eliminates the need for wireless manufacturers and operators to buy and maintain costly back-end server. Instead, Nomad 2.0 conducts evaluations by communicating with a server that is managed and operated by Metrico.  It will help the manufacturers reduce the hardware and the maintenance costs which are associated with the device performance evaluation.

"Unlike other tools focused on low level engineering details of network and device performance, Nomad 2.0 measures the end user experience," Metrico vice president Jeff Horner said. "We help device manufacturers and network carriers anticipate how a new device will affect their overall customer satisfaction and, inevitably, their bottom line."

Nomad 2.0 is an integrated form of its leading voice evaluation products. It can be used with Metrico's Datum product line to offer an evaluation of data and voice performance of mobile devices being manufactured for launch in the commercial market, as well as those in the market currently.

"With so much of the focus today on mobile data, we tend to forget that consumers still care deeply about voice quality and call performance issues such as whether their call is dropped in the middle of a conversation," Alex Spektor of research firm Strategy Analytics (News - Alert) said.

"Having an efficient, cost-effective way of evaluating key audio and call performance metrics that truly measure the end user experience - can help mobile industry players not only save money but also acquire and retain more satisfied customers," Spektor added.

Back in March, Metrico Wireless announced the launch of Metrico Mobile Experience program to help users compare their mobile devices with other popular mobile devices available in the market. Read more about Metrico Wireless' program here.
