Brainchild Products Aid Educators and Students Alike

By Mini Swamy, TMCnet Contributor

Brainchild was founded in 1992 when it created the first handheld tutor for students, the PLS-1000. In 1999, Brainchild's online summative assessment for state standards was introduced.

Since then, Brainchild has been constantly innovating, making multimedia education more interesting for students.Since then, it has come a long way.

Brainchild's TAKS Achiever! online assessment program and Study Buddy handheld tutors have been approved by the Texas Education Agency Multi-regional Purchasing Cooperative Awards Committee  for use in schools in Texas regions 9, 11, 14 and 15,

The Agency represents 1481 schools in 205 districts in the north and central regions of Texas..

Determining district and school accountability ratings, and assessing public school students on what they have learned are the primary responsibilities of the Texas Education Agency, referred to as TEA.

It also assesses and certifies educators to ensure that they are in a position to deliver high quality education to students.

The formative assessment system is state specific and is customized according to the learning patterns of that state. Educators are not only able to assess student progress throughout the year, but can offer remedial measures where deemed necessary.

Brainchild products are particularly well-suited for Response to Intervention and individualized instruction or for helping Spanish-speaking students and is available for language arts, math and science for grades K-12.

With the Study Buddy cartridges being available in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole and the TAKS Achiever! providing complete Spanish support for the test questions, tutorials and answers including all the on-screen animations, illustrations, text and audio narrations, the products provide a data driven assessment and remediation program in learning styles that are dynamic and interesting.

School districts can purchase Brainchild's products under the multi-regional technology bid no.2010-03 during the period August 1, 2010 and August 31, 2011.The purchase of these products come under the category of non-recurring expenditure and the cost per student annually for a single subject is minimal.

Information about the products and free trials have also been made available.

Brainchild, Corp. is a Florida-based company that provides standards-based online assessment, instruction and reporting tools that help students reach and exceed learning objectives. In addition to its Achiever! series built individually for each state, Brainchild manufactures the Study Buddy, the first handheld tutor that was created exclusively for K-12 public schools and is being used by over 1 million students per day.
