Pearson’s Teacher Education & Development Group, an organization specialising in education, technology and services, has reportedly taken the initiative to bring forth education leaders from across California State University’s 23 campuses for a two-day virtual conference scheduled to go live from today until Oct. 30.

“New Century, New Ideas, New Options: Content, Pedagogy and the Future of Teaching,” is the theme of the conference which mainly discusses the shape, scope and future of teaching, as technology becomes an increasingly important component in the classroom.

According to a press release, the two-day virtual colloquium will include a panel discussion about preparing educators for the 21st Century, moderated by Dr. Mary Gendernalik-Cooper, Dean of the School of Education at Sonoma State University in California.
Panelists will include Valerie Greenhill of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills; Dr. Rosalinda Barrera, Dean of the College of Education at Texas State University San Marcos; and Dr. Alison Hilsabeck, Dean of the National College of Education at National-Louis University in Chicago.

The conference includes a demonstration on Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies across the content areas in teacher education by Pearson author Dr. Jana Echevarria, Professor Emerita of Education at California State University Long Beach, to identify struggling students early and respond with research-based solutions.

Also, a presentation by Kathleen Fulton of the National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future (NCTAF), who will discuss solutions to improve teacher retention and offer ideas for the future, would be the part of the conference.

Speaking on this occasion, Nancy Forsyth, president of Pearson Teacher Education and Student Success said that, they will continue to partner with education leaders and faculty to develop research- and technology-based content and learning solutions that prepare tomorrow’s educators. “Our virtual conference is designed to continue this dialogue about the future of teaching and learning and how we can help faculty to achieve their goal of developing effective teachers,” she added.

Pearson’s Teacher Education & Development Group has been supporting the education and professional development of teachers from preparation through practice, with content and services that represent the research and knowledge of America’s leading education researchers.

Its imprints and programs, including Allyn & Bacon, Merrill and MyEducationLab, claims to provide students who will be teachers in the future with powerful insight and applications into how real-world classrooms work.
