Glogster Opens Up New Site to Enhance its Educations Technology
In keeping up with the increased popularity of social media, Glogster has relocated its education site to a brand new Website with hopes of taking its education technology to the next level.
With Glogster users can mix graphics, photos, videos, music and text into slick Glogs and share their creations on Myspace, Facebook (News - Alert), Hi5, Friendster, Bebo or Twitter. They can also view and review glogs from other users as well.
Glogster has stated that Glog is like a poster, only better. Users can add hyperlinks to other sites on their glogs and users who use a Glog are referred to as “Gloggers.”
According to company officials, Glogster EDU is an original educational resource for innovative and interactive learning and Glogster EDU was conceived to imaginatively, productively and collaboratively respond to the dynamic educational landscape and exceed the needs of today’s educators and learners.
James Dachos, Education Manager for Glogster EDU, said that Glogster EDU produces a creative, dynamic and innovative digital outlet that captures a learner's excitement for online creations, while keeping them engaged in course content. That makes teaching and learning fun for everyone.
The systen can act as a valuable educational experience that integrates diverse core subjects including math, science, history, art, photography, music and other course content and teachers solely and directly control this free, private and safe platform.
Glogster EDU was designed with the purpose to make education fun for teachers and learners alike. Teachers can use the newly commenced site as an alternative to classic poster board assignments; they can set up a private virtual classroom through the site and then introduce and integrate dynamic multi-sensory learning activities into traditionally text-oriented subjects. Students can express their creativity and knowledge of the subjects they have learned by creating related Glogs.
Actively collaborating with industry players to further enhance its product and reach, Glogster partnered with SchoolTube to embed safe video content into their Glogs with the push of a button. The company has also signed agreements with PBWorks and Voicethread to further enhance its services.
