The Columbus Independent School District (ISD) has reportedly experienced an increased usage of Web-enabled smart phones by its students and faculty. Looking to facilitate better usage of this technology and at the same time, wanting to keep a track of the bandwidth usage, ISD has opted for the Cymphonix Network Composer. In addition to gaining visibility, and managing bandwidth in its campuses, ISD can also filter Web content across its network with this solution.
The Network Composer provides enterprise-class Internet controls to small business organizations and branch offices. With this product, companies get a complete solution to controlling their 8Mbps connection. It is ideal for all the companies and institutions that are looking to control Internet content or get better performance out of their limited bandwidth.
ISD can now easily shape bandwidth and prioritize Web content with Network Composer installed. This gives very low-level access to unauthenticated accounts. The product also prioritizes Web content, and it was exactly what Columbus ISD needed.
“Having wireless hotspots is a great benefit to the faculty, staff and visitors to our schools, but a big concern was that these accounts would strain our network and hamper classroom learning and other mission critical Web access,” said Lance Portwood, Columbus ISD network administrator, in a statement. “Having wireless hotspots is a great benefit to the faculty, staff and visitors to our schools.”
ISD said that even the installation and deployment process was far easier compared to other such products. According to ISD, Network Composer has helped them improve the overall performance and security of their district's network.
