London Business School Deploys Aruba Networks Adaptive Wi-Fi Networks
The London Business School has selected and deployed Aruba Networks’ adaptive Wi-Fi networks.
The London Business School founded in 1964 today supports over 1,700 degree students and 8,000 executive education students.
Aruba officials said that upon final commissioning of its newest 802.11n expansion this summer, the entire North London campus will have 100 percent wireless coverage. The wireless network was supplied by authorized Aruba partner, Pervasive Networks.
"Incoming students expect wireless connectivity everywhere, and as a result network performance can significantly affect a school's reputation," said James Brookes, director of IT for The London Business School, in a statement.
Brookes said that the school’s students are professionals with deep experience in the corporate world, and it wants them to have an enterprise-class wireless service that is at least as good as what they experience at their own companies. The Aruba Wi-Fi solution does just that -- it exceeds expectations, he added.
Tomo, the senior network engineer at the London Business School, added that the network is exceptionally reliable, the radios adapt automatically to avoid interference emanating from many neighbors, and the system adjusts dynamically to the changing user population to ensure everyone always has enough bandwidth.
He said that the school spends less than half a day a month on wireless operations management, freeing IT to focus on school-related business.
"Wireless networks have become a competitive differentiator among universities, and London Business School students know they can depend on the wire-like reliability offered by Aruba's always-on wireless," said Bob Vickers, sales director of Aruba U.K. and Ireland.
Vickers said that 802.11n will allow the school to expand its data, voice, and video services without compromising performance, providing a growth path for innovative educational applications in the years ahead.
Aruba securely delivers networks to users, wherever they work or roam. The company’s mobility and network virtualization solutions ensure that the enterprise network moves in lock-step with users.
Back in June TMCnet reported that The University of Manchester selected Aruba Networks (News - Alert) to upgrade its campus wireless network with a high-speed 802.11n solution.
The University of Manchester is a U.K. single-site university, and depends heavily upon IT infrastructure to support its 35,000 students, 11,400 faculty and staff, and world-class research, innovation, and learning initiatives. The university selected Aruba after it determined that the company’s wireless LANs were more scalable, adaptive radio management was easier to deploy, and overall the network was more easily managed than competing systems.
