Cisco Connected Learning Platform Deployed in Saigon Institute of Technology

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

The Saigon Institute of Technology has announced it built a campus in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam using Cisco (News - Alert) Connected Learning technologies. For this, Cisco has deployed a highly secure wireless networking platform through its channel partner HPT that connects SaigonTech’s various other buildings in the city enabling the delivery of e-learning and advanced communications between staff and students.

Cisco Connected Learning is a three-step blueprint that helps higher education institutions to provide a student-centered, globally aware 21st-century learning environment. It provides anytime, anywhere, highly secure access to resources via an integrated platform of wireless, security, unified communications and Cisco Connected Real Estate technologies.

The Cisco Connected Learning platform enables SaigonTech to offer to its staff and students the latest technologies and access to dynamic online content. The teaching material includes video and rich media which facilitates a virtual classroom.

Ho Quang Trung, vice chancellor, Estate Management and Infrastructure at SaigonTech said that the dedicated study and support staff and dynamic ethos and all other facilities available in the campus make the learning environment most suitable for the 21st century.

“The network plays a very important role in the 21st century education model that we are pursuing. The advanced network will provide online e-learning, email and communication tools to students and staff, allowing them access to programs at school or via the Internet,” said Nguyen Huu Thanh, chief of IT infrastructure, SaigonTech.

“Cisco and HPT helped to integrate all of these over a single network, improving the study environment and also rationalizing the management process.”

Lee Chiang Toh, general director, Cisco, Vietnam also aid that SaigonTech was enhancing the facilities available for higher education in Vietnam especially focusing on those who will normally not go for higher education. Cisco is helping SaigonTech reach its goal for raising the standard of education in the country besides connecting students and staff to resources from the world over.
