Cresskill Public School System Selects Optimum Lightpath as Telecommunications Provider
New Jersey-based Cresskill Public School District has selected Optimum (News - Alert) Lightpath as its telecommunications provider.
According to Optimum Lightpath officials, Cresskill Public Schools hopes to significantly increase the computing and communications power for nearly 2,000 students and 180 teaching staff by deploying the company’s network across its three campuses and Board of Education building.
Officials said that the school district replaced Verizon's (News - Alert) 3 Mbps ATM-based Wide Area Network (WAN) connection and 10-Mbps Internet access with Optimum Lightpath's 20 Mbps Internet Voice service, and 1,000 Mb Metro Ethernet circuits for their WAN.
This deployment is expected to help Cresskill to add cost-effective communications solutions and secure disaster recovery while future proofing its needs -- all for one predictable cost.
"I've worked in this industry for 21 years, and when dealing with national service providers, you're just a number," said Kevin Whitney, director of Telecommunications at Cresskill School District, in a statement.
Whitney said that during the installation with Optimum Lightpath, there was a definite human touch with each person.
Now, for the same cost the have school district has more bandwidth, more reliability and scalability, and a provider that it can trust, he said.
"We are delighted to add the Cresskill Public School system to our growing team of smart schools in the New York Metropolitan area," said Dave Pistacchio, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Optimum Lightpath.
Pistacchio said that as smart schools continue to deploy more efficient cost-saving technologies, like VoIP, video and SMART Boards in the classroom, they join the area's most sophisticated businesses, and the Optimum Lightpath smart community.
Optimum Lightpath, a division of Cablevision Systems (News - Alert) Corporation, is a major player in providing advanced Ethernet-based data, Internet, voice, video transport solutions and managed services to businesses across the New York metropolitan area.
Optimum Lightpath in March had announced that Family Service League, a dynamic social service organization servicing Long Island, has selected Optimum Lightpath to help improve the lifeblood of its business: delivering out-patient training and care to individuals, children and families in need.
By deploying Optimum Lightpath's all-fiber optic network between its Huntington, NY, headquarters and its four regional family centers across Long Island, Family Service League increased its network capacity by 700 percent and simplified its bottom line with Optimum Lightpath’s predictable flat-rate pricing.
The enhanced network capabilities allow Family Service League to offer additional services to more than 6,000 additional individuals and families throughout Long Island.
