IP-PBX Provider Alteva Participates in E-Rate Program

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Alteva reportedly has announced its participation in the Universal Service Administrative Company’s Schools and Libraries Program. Also known as E-Rate, the program helps schools and libraries in the United States get discounts for services such as telecommunications, Internet access and phone hardware.

Although institutions such as schools and colleges are dependent telecommunications and services for smooth functioning, they cannot afford to invest a huge amount of money in such services like big corporate houses. Alteva (News - Alert) claims that its digital voice service and telecommunication accessories provide the big business telecom facilities at affordable rates.

With the help of E-Rate, a school or library can deploy additional resources such as end user equipment (computers, telephones), software, professional development and other equipments. E-Rate funds service categories, namely, telecommunications services, Internet access, internal connections along with basic maintenance and basic maintenance of internal connections.

“By expanding our presence in the education market, we are able to offer a feature rich hosted telephony solution to the educational community, bringing innovative communications right into the classroom, while at the same time offering dramatic discounts for authorized services through the E-Rate program,” said Louis Hayner, vice president of sales at Alteva. “Alteva’s hosted solution is now a preferred choice for non-profit private schools, public schools and libraries”

Over a single IP network interface, Alteva’s IP phone service provides affordable, high quality hosted IP-PBX (News - Alert), and calling functionality. Users are free to maintain, update and expand their telephony system in their own time with a powerful yet easy-to-use interface. They do not have to pay an extra charge to avail this facility.

In January this year, the company started offering IP-based call recording, Alteva Archive, as part of its platform after several successful adoptions by its customers. With Alteva Archive, even smaller businesses such can now improve operations and their competitive edge by having access to the information gathered through call recording that enables higher agent performance and with it enhanced customer satisfaction retention and sales.
