Microsoft and Lenovo Unveil Ultimate Academic PCs for Students
Microsoft has teamed up with Lenovo to provide the Ultimate Academic Personal Computer promotion that will include high-powered, highly functional, affordable laptop PCs for students, teachers and the educational staff.
While advanced laptops are fast becoming a necessity for education in today’s world, acquiring and maintaining them can be costly. In many cases, students and faculty end up buying a low cost laptop that compromises an important standard of education in today’s competitive world.
To combat this, Microsoft (News - Alert) and Lenovo have come up with a range of high end laptops which are preloaded with various Microsoft applications and yet come at an affordable price for students.
The Ultimate Academic PC promotion offers 4 different types if PCs. The ThinkPad T400 provides powerful processing functionality, a host of wireless connectivity options and multimedia features essential for college students. Also the ThinkPad R500 provides similar capacities but it has a bit larger screen (15 inches).
The ThinkPad X200 Tablet is a 12-inch screen tablet PC that easily turns in both directions with low reflectivity and wide viewing angles. The PC also comes with a battery life of 10 hours. In addition, the ThinkPad X301 withstands rough handling as it has two roll cages to make the laptop extremely light yet sturdy.
“By combining Windows Vista Ultimate and Microsoft Office Ultimate software with Lenovo’s (News - Alert) durable ThinkPad laptops, we created a PC that would help students achieve academic success in an increasingly competitive environment and continue to help them as they enter the business world,” said James Ptaszynski, Ph.D., senior director of Worldwide Higher Education Strategy of the Worldwide Public Sector team at Microsoft.
Pricing for these new models begins at $999.
