California Schools Select Pearson's Web-Based Data Management Solution
Antelope Valley Union High School District reportedly has selected Pearson’s PowerSchool Premier as its student data management solution.
To be launched in the fall of 2009, the system would support 13 high schools and nearly 24,000 students.
“With the outstanding support of Pearson, our district experienced a seamless implementation in the migration from SASI to PowerSchool Premier,” said Gary Allen, IT Director for the district.
Allen said that the PowerSchool technology would enable the school to focus on 21st century learning as the school prepares its high school students for the next phase of their academic life.
Pearson officials say theirs is the first student information system designed from the ground up as a Web-based solution and offers easy access to real-time data via a standard web browser, on a Mac or PC. They also claimed that the upgrade to the PowerSchool Premier infrastructure would provide several benefits to the Antelope Valley Union High School District.
Officials said that the centralized, Web-based solution - which can be accessed anytime, anywhere – enables district end users to store their data in one centralized location and seamlessly generate attendance records, grade checks, report cards and transcripts.
Thanks to PowerSchool Premier, Antelope Valley parents and students would now be able to access real-time information like grades, attendance information and student progress.
Moreover, the company officials said that by integrating Pearson Inform, a performance reporting system, district end users would be able to access intuitive reports on student achievement, which makes it faster and easier for schools to target assistance, measure progress, and create informed decisions. “Antelope Valley is a great example of how our products can serve the unique challenges and meet the needs of different districts,” said Paul Fletcher, senior vice president and general manager of the School Systems group of Pearson.
Pearson is a major player in education and education technology.
“Our educational technology infrastructure goes beyond data delivery by supporting decisions that impact student performance and enhance collaboration among districts, schools, teachers and students,” company officials say.
