The iPad is not only popular among adults. It is also extremely popular with kids. In homes that own an iPad, it's not uncommon to find the kids endlessly pestering their moms and dads to let them play with it.
Harnessing kids' fascination with mobile gadgets, educational technology company Kidaptive has introduced Parent's Pad, which will help parents better assess their child’s learning by providing comprehensive feedback on their little one's scholastic, cognitive, and social abilities.
According to Kidaptive, Parent's Pad works well with Leo's Pad, an iPad app. This app provides various interesting animated stories and activities that make learning more attractive to kids. Parent's Pad will help parents assess their child's skill level in various fields like pre-literacy and math, as well as in cognitive, emotional, and social functions, such as being patient and taking turns.
Since Parent's Pad is an application within Leo's Pad, parents wishing to sign up for this tool will have to do so within the Leo's Pad app.
Kidaptive offers technology that makes use of embedded assessments to improve learning. It also supports metacognitive development and enables parents to get actionable intelligence and useful tips on improving their child's progress and interests.
"Leo's Pad will offer the most advanced assessment framework and parental feedback system ever created. At a glance, you will see how a child is doing in seven key areas that represent a child's brain development," said Dylan Arena, co-founder and chief learning scientist at Kidaptive, who has a Ph.D. from Stanford in Learning Sciences and Technology Design. "Our assessment framework will provide the most detailed insight into a young learner's development ever offered outside of clinical settings."
Kidaptive introduced Leo's Pad in January 2013. According to the company, every Leo's Pad is filled with games and puzzles designed by educational researchers.
