Children have no conception of time. When it comes to being punished or put in time out, minutes seem like hours, but in cases where children want to stay up past their bedtime, those extra ten minutes fly by within seconds.
In hopes of creating a toy for children that would not only be a form of entertainment, but an answer to all of their questions about time, Karen Barski created the Time IN DOLLS.
Barski is a pioneer in the parenting world, as a mother of five, 19-year nurse, parent consultant and inventor of the popular Woombie baby swaddle – so you could say she has an educational background in children. Her latest innovational product, the Time IN DOLL, was created to help children understand time and what it means to wait ten minutes without questioning your knowledge of the clock.
Each Time IN Doll has a built in 15 minute timer with features that allow children to play around, while enforcing educational factors where children can practice how to tie laces, buttons, zips and Velcro while waiting. The timer eliminates a child’s need to ask when those promised five minutes are over, as the answer lies within their doll.
"I used the Time IN Doll to give me, mom, a five minute break when I needed a few minutes to catch up. I proclaimed to my kids, 'I need five minutes - please be patient and when the timer rings you will have my full attention,' Barski said. Funny thing was - it worked!"
On top of giving moms and dads an extra ten minutes to themselves, the doll also teaches children a sense of time and patience, without having to give them a “time out,” which the doll essentially replaces.
The Time IN DOLL is available for both boys and girls, as it offers a “Daddy” and “Mommy” version. For more information about this product, click here.
