The Denton Independent School District Implements Hobson's Naviance
By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor
The Denton Independent School District will be making use of the Hobson’s Naviance platform to help high school students get ready for college or career opportunities and also enhance student and family engagement.
“Naviance aligns perfectly with our district mission of having Denton Independent School District students graduate from high school, college and career-ready. Whether our students are exploring career choices, investigating college options, or completing a personal learning plan, the end goal is to connect their academic choices with their post-secondary goals, and Naviance is truly a one-stop shop for college and career planning”, exclaimed Amy Lawrence, director of counseling services for the district, in a statement.
According to Hobson, Naviance is a college and career readiness platform that can maximize student success and institutional effectiveness to create the world-changers of tomorrow. It has specific features built into it that can let school and district administrators more efficiently and effectively prepare students to meet their college and career goals.
By deploying Hobson's Naviance, the Denton ISD, which has more than 22,000 students and 35 buildings, including 20 elementary, six middle, and three high schools, will be able to access a multitude of tools and features that can help potential students set goals, design and develop academic plans and look into possible future careers.
With Naviance, students, families, and counselors can develop comprehensive roadmaps for student success that allow schools to create individualized course plans for students, facilitate the college application process, survey students, and report and track the outcomes of their entire student population.
Some of the notable features of Naviance include: the ability for school districts to monitor and analyze each student’s outcome via a single portal; student’s career and college planning is maintained as a digital record and based on the historical results from each student, Naviance delivers a wealth of data that allows schools and districts to collect data and make proper decisions based on it; Naviance eDocs lets schools electronically submit applications to more than 1,700 colleges and universities; and more.
