Internap Provides a Self-Optimizing IT Infrastructure for Scholastic Education
By Daniel Brecht, Contributing Writer
Internap Network Services Corporation, a provider of high-performance IT infrastructure services, is now delivering enterprise-grade Dedicated Virtual Private Cloud solutions to Scholastic Education, a leader in the education marketplace. Scholastic Education is transitioning to online delivery and partnered with Internap (News - Alert) for its IT Infrastructure needs and to provide access to its web-based educational programs on the Internet.
In 2011, Scholastic selected Internap for its customized enterprise private cloud infrastructure and route-optimized Performance IP network to manage the hosting services for Scholastic’s core instructional and assessment programs. The only requirement from Scholastic was that the private cloud platform had to support Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) and be based on the innovative platform from VMware (a vSphere server platform), which is a trusted environment for building private clouds; this allowed for delivery of applications and business services on-demand while providing maximum server utilization at a lower cost, resulting in a low total-cost-of-ownership (TCO). Internap was able to provide a flexible IT platform for Scholastic Education to be able to support its transition from on-premise to cloud-based SaaS delivery.
Internap’s enterprise cloud solutions based on innovative platforms from VMware has offered Scholastic to adapt to their changing needs, providing an easy accessible service and an ideal website experience while providing them web-based educational programs for K-12 schools nationwide.
Scholastic Education has, to this day, seen great levels of performance, availability and support from Internap. This transition to use Internap’s Dedicated Private Cloud solution with its route-optimized Performance IP has enabled Scholastic to run multiple applications across the Internet, use computing resources tailored to its needs, to allow students and teachers access to the education programs from the school and at home, all while continuing to provide the highest standard of customer service possible.
Internap’s Performance IP with patented Managed Internet Route Optimizer (MIRO) technology, which is a method for data delivery or routing in finding the best routes through the Internet, has proven to be the right virtualization infrastructure solution for Scholastic.
