March Networks video surveillance system has been implemented by Escambia County School District to improve school safety. The solution offers rapid resolution of incidents, thereby allowing the school district to respond swiftly to probable threats.

A simplified IP-based solution, comprising of March Networks Command video management software and 4000 C Series hybrid NVRs will be used to monitor over 40,000 students in 60 schools in Pensacola, FL.

In a release, Brian Johnson (News - Alert), a network systems analyst at Escambia County School District said, "At the moment, we have a mixture of March Networks hybrid recorders in some schools and the server-based Command software in others. The solution is ideal, because it allows us to continue using analog cameras where they are already installed, and eventually transition all of our schools to IP surveillance as our budget permits."

Both Windows and Macintosh operating systems are compatible with the Command software. With most of the administrators at the school district using Macintosh computers, this compatibility was one of the key factors in selecting Command software. The school district was also able to cut on time and resources as the need for setting up and maintaining new software on all the systems was ruled out by the online client interface of Command software.

In case of emergencies, law enforcement and other first responders will be also able to access the online surveillance system for a real-time inspection into a school.
