DC Electronics Supports Educational Innovation with Donation

By Mini Swamy

The Beacon Education Network was founded in 2006 to open public charter schools in high-need communities on the central coast, and DC Electronics, a San Jose, California-based cable and harness assembly firm, has offered a significant donation to further the cause of students on the Beacon Network.

In a press release, DC President Dave Cianciulli emphasized the need for a smart and innovative workforce and said, "It's in our best interest to ensure that our local educational system produces top-notch people. We looked at the Beacon program and are very impressed. The results Tom and his team are achieving speak for themselves."

The donation was part of a company initiative to give an impetus to educational innovation in three counties that figured on the Beacon Network.

Beacon President and CEO Tom Brown noted that things had to be done differently to achieve better results. He said, “We're always looking for ways to improve learning, and the grant from DC Electronics will allow us to personalize offerings for students, their families and our teaching staff."

While school improvement efforts have always been on, it was only the large urban areas that invariably benefited. Beacon's approach was different, as it chose to focus on the needs of the more rural areas. DC Electronics deemed it appropriate to support Beacon's initiative.

In other news, DC Electronics, in keeping with its strategy of growth and development, announced the expansion of its 30,000 square foot facility in San Jose, CA (News - Alert). The expansion was just one more step in its effort to continuously evolve to meet new demands.
