To help to fill the growing demand of digital (audio and visual), interactive educational material, XanEdu Publishing, a faculty-preferred provider of custom course materials and textbooks has earned a Campus Technology 2011 Innovators Award for the creation of the XanEdu iPad App.
According to a press release, XanEdu has worked with Ann Arbor, MI-based companies, The Whole Brain Group, LLC, an integrated marketing and design firm, and Arbormoon Software, Inc., a mobile software development company to develop this iPad App.
This application offers e-learning material for today's mobile generation of college students. The students can use, manage and engage more with digital course materials.
The XanEdu iPad App project was one of 10 winners chosen in six categories out of nearly 400 entries. The XanEdu iPad App's features include advanced highlighting and note taking, advanced search capabilities, powerful collaboration tools, and wireless printing of materials.
Tyler Steben, VP of Custom Publishing, XanEdu Publishing, Inc., said, "This process enabled XanEdu to truly understand how specific features could enhance the student learning experience in a digital environment. Students expect portability, interactivity and accessibility both inside and outside of the classroom. At the same time, educators are looking for ways to deliver more dynamic and engaging course materials using multi-media and the web. The XanEdu iPad App was created to synthesize the needs of both students and educators."
Campus Technology has announced the winners on May 15, 2011. The company has selected XanEdu for the award because the company's approach and development methodology involved direct input from hundreds of college students across North America, including more than 500 students in over 50 courses at NYU Stern School of Business.
Steben adds that, "We're honored to be recognized. We're also honored to have partnered with three Michigan-based businesses that are truly leaders in the field of mobile development."
Marisa Smith, President of The Whole Brain Group, adds, "This is a shining example of how Michigan-based companies are making a strong impact nationwide and that our achievements are being recognized by some of the country's leading business schools and trade publications. Educational technology and mobile development are two areas that I'm passionate about because the opportunities to impact the next generation of thought leaders are so great”.
In other company news, TMCnet reported that XanEdu has partnered with New York University Stern School of Business to conduct its first program-wide test of Apple (News - Alert) iPads this fall.
