Vinculum Communications Inc, a global provider of wholesale, business and consumer IP communication services, recently announced that its Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solution, Vintalk (News - Alert), has earned the E-Rate certification to provide telecommunications services for non-profit schools and libraries.
Administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) under the direction of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC (News - Alert)), the Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Fund help various schools and libraries in the U.S by providing discounts to obtain affordable telecommunications and Internet access.
Company officials said the company is “thrilled to be E-Rate certified and working with USAC,” according to Jayson Jones, VP of Vintalk Channel Sales, in a press release. “This certification allows our partners to provide schools and libraries advanced telecommunication tools, through VoIP, they traditionally didn’t have access to. With Vintalk’s solution, non-profits can enhance efficiencies and better serve their communities.”
The Schools and Libraries Program is one of four support programs funded through Universal Service fees charged to companies, such as Vintalk, that provide interstate and/or international telecommunications services. The program supports connectivity—the conduit or pipeline for communications using telecommunications services and/or the Internet.
Funding is requested under four categories of service: telecommunications services, Internet access, internal connections and basic maintenance of internal connections.
Discounts for support depend on the level of poverty and the urban/rural status of the population served and range from 20 percent to 90 percent of the costs of eligible services. Eligible schools, school districts and libraries may apply individually or as part of a consortium.
Vintalk Communications, Inc. is a global provider of wholesale and retail IP communication services. The company recently launched its Disaster Recover product after three months of beta testing. Vintalk described Disaster Recover product as a remote backup phone system for businesses that is an instant, automatic failover.
