AudioCodes' New Mediant 1000 Multi-Service Business Gateway

Yours Truly first became aware of AudioCodes (News - Alert) in the late 1990s as they quickly gained a reputation for having developed the best and highest-density packetization boards, made possible by VoIP-oriented DSPs. They later (in 2002) introduced such innovations as the first media gateway on a PMC (PCI Mezzanine Card) Module, which strategically positioned them to enable the Next-Gen Central Office switch and VoDSL markets.
And now, in the wake of a recent In-Stat (News - Alert) report, describing how the Multi-Service Business Gateway (MSBG) market will grow from $1.2 Billion in 2008 to $2.6 billion in 2011, AudioCodes introduces the Mediant 1000 Multi-Service Business Gateway (News - Alert) — a modular, all-in-one, networking device that combines a media gateway, enterprise class session border controller, data router and firewall, LAN
Switch, WAN access, Stand Alone Survivability (SAS (News - Alert)) and an on-board general purpose server. The Mediant 1000 MSBG addresses the needs of service providers and cablecos when offering IP-Centrex and SIP trunking services, as well as the needs of distributed Enterprises. AudioCodes is thus now expanding its operations beyond the VoIP
market to a new business communication market segment, at the same time maintaining its position and market share in the Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) market.
The AudioCodes MSBG enables secured SIP trunking using IP-to-IP
session mediation, an integrated SBC and media transcoding, following the market trend of moving to SIP trunking and gradually replacing existing costly PSTN
connections.”
The Mediant 1000 MSBG simplifies installations and improves manageability for Operators, by delivering a cost-effective network device at customer premises, eliminating the “finger pointing” that occurs with multiple stacked elements from different vendors where the point of demarcation is unclear. For large distributed Enterprises, the benefit of the Mediant 1000 MSBG lies in the ease of implementing secure and reliable inter-branch communication with an integrated product. For both service providers and Enterprises, the Mediant 1000 MSBG’s Stand Alone Survivability (SAS) features further guarantees continuous service offering and business continuity.
As a member of the well-entrenched AudioCodes Mediant gateway family, the Mediant 1000 MSBG is an evolutionary extension of AudioCodes’ technology and benefits from the interoperability certifications of their application partners. This allows the Mediant 1000 MSBG to be used with a wide range of both IP-PBXs and TDM
PBXs. Utilizing the recently announced availability of software version 5.4 for the AudioCodes Media Gateway family, existing AudioCodes customers can immediately capitalize on the first phase of the Mediant 1000 MSBG features which include VoIP peering and mediation. A further phased implementation of additional capabilities is planned for later this year.
AudioCodes has created a website landing page www.audiocodes.com/MSBG which includes all technical and marketing resources for the Mediant 1000 MSBG.
