IPextreme announced that IP
Square, a Japanese semiconductor company, has licensed the Freescale ColdFire Architecture. With this, IPextreme’s Core Store brings ColdFire IP to Japan.
The acquisition of ColdFire by IP Square through IPextreme satisfies almost all criteria and requirement of the company, which an 8-bit microprocessor could not. Licensing facilitated up gradation from the current 8-bit microprocessor core to a more powerful 32-bit solution.
Japan-based IP Square is a semiconductor company that provides hardware IP cores for TCP/IP, IPSec
and IPv6 that are suitable for Offload Engine Solution for System on Chip and systems designers.
IP Square also develops advanced hardware IP cores and system solutions that contribute to ubiquitous computing through internet communications with non-computer devices. It also sells its own Application Specific Semiconductor Products (ASSP).
IPextreme are mainly into licensing of semiconductor IP (intellectual property) and methodologies that are developed by semiconductor companies to chip designers.
IPextreme that are also into developing, packaging, licensing and supporting IP offers a complete business solution that facilitates semiconductor companies to strategically leverage their internal IP portfolio and thereby expand overall revenue.
IPextreme’ production-proven IP products serve both broad horizontal markets and specific verticals that include consumer and automotive and are provided in a process-independent and EDA-neutral format for easy use by the widest range of customers.
IP Square, after an extensive research chose V1 ColdFire as the ideal replacement that would satisfy companies requirements such as higher performance, low power, low cost entry point, future roadmap, and a rich and complete software tool ecosystem.
With the help of IPextreme’s Core Store that features IP titles has made the IP purchase a hassle-free experience.
“When we heard that the famous ColdFire architecture was available for purchase through IPextreme’s Core Store, it made our decision that much easier,” said Hiroshi Satoh, Chief Technical Officer of IP Square, in a statement.
“In our quest to move from an 8-bit to a 32-bit architecture, Freescale’s V1 ColdFire stood out for us for several reasons besides price. Freescale’s commitment to the ColdFire architecture and IPextreme’s demonstrated technical expertise convinced us we would receive world class support.”
ColdFire, a silicon-proven synthesizable core from Freescale is available through IPextreme’s Core Store that provides IP Square with all the benefits of a powerful architecture that are usually found only in 8-bit cores.
