RF Surgical Systems to Host Continuing Medical Education Credit Sessions at the AORN 60th Annual Congress

BELLEVUE, Wash. --(Business Wire)--

RF Surgical Systems, Inc. today announced it will attend the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) 60th Annual Congress from March 2-7, 2013.

RF Surgical offers the RF Assure Detection System - the only automatic, evidence based, in-vivo detection platform to help prevent retained surgical items such as surgical sponges, in seconds. A recent report has revealed that despite manual counting protocols, surgical sponges are being left behind in patients 39 times a week.1 The continuation of these "never events", along with clearly defined mandates for reducing RSIs and increasingly aggressive reimbursement rules relying on care providers to further reduce hospital acquired conditions (HACs), are bringing adjunct technology to prevent retained surgical items to the forefront. The RF Surgical Detection System is designed to further improve patient safety in the operating room and help reduce the incidence of RSIs.

RF Surgical is offering continuing medical educaton (CME) credits to nurses attending AORN and interested in learning more about effective strategies for improving patient safety in the OR. Nurses who attend the education session (Activity # 8515) at the RF Surgical Booth #4449 will receive 2.0 contact hours towards AORN's continuing nursing education program. Nurses can register for the course at the AORN Congress Connections center following information provided on the study guide materials, which are available at the RF Surgical booth. Additionally, RF Surgical will provide demonstrations of the RF Surgical Detection System at its booth throughout the week.
