Top Senate Energy, Health/Education Staff Director to Join Bracewell & Giuliani's Policy Resolution Group in D.C.
WASHINGTON --(Business Wire)--
Bracewell & Giuliani LLP announced today that former Senate Committee
Staff Director Frank Macchiarola is joining the firm's Policy Resolution
Group (PRG) in Washington, DC. Macchiarola, the former staff director of
two prominent Senate committees, will bolster PRG's environmental and
energy practices as well as help expand the group's healthcare and
education practices.
Macchiarola leaves Capitol Hill after serving for the past three years
as staff director of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions
(HELP) Committee for Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY). At HELP, he was the chief
adviser to Senate Republicans for some of the most high profile
legislative issues over the past several years including health care
reform. Previously, Macchiarola served as both Majority and Minority
Staff Director of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee for
former Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM), helping manage several major pieces
of energy legislation.
"Frank Macchiarola is a first-class public policy talent," said PRG head
Scott Segal. "Having served as the leader of two Senate committees that
handle some of our country's most pressing issues, Frank will complement
the efforts of the Policy Resolution Group, which is known for its
in-depth expertise and substantive approach to advocacy work."
As a part of PRG, Bracewell & Giuliani name partner Rudy Giliani said
Macchiarola will have the opportunity to continue his substantive policy
and political role. "It is very exciting to welcome such an experienced
Washington policy hand joining our PRG team," the former New York Mayor
said. "Frank Macchiarola has first-hand legislative knowledge of some of
the most important issues facing our country today such as healthcare,
education and energy - priority issues for policymakers for many years
to come. And, as an added bonus, he's a long-time New York Yankees fan."
A Brooklyn, NY native, Macchiarola is a graduate of the College of the
Holy Cross and earned a juris doctorate from the New York University
School of Law.
"We are very pleased to see a public policy professional of Frank
Macchiarola's caliber join the Policy Resolution Group," said Mark C.
Evans, Managing Partner of Bracewell & Giuliani. "Frank will add
tremendous value for our clients and strengthen the firm's already
outstanding advocacy capabilities in Washington, DC."
In a 2011 profile in the Washington Post, Macchiarola said, "It
is important to defeat … bad policies, but it is more satisfying to be
in the role of being able to pass policies that are good for the
American people."
"I am very excited to join Bracewell's Policy Resolution Group, which
has built an outstanding reputation in Washington for its substantive,
knowledge-based approach to advocacy work," said Macchiarola. "PRG's
clients are well positioned to engage in today's complex policy issues,
and I look forward to continuing to take on some of our nation's most
critical challenges, from the evolution of our nation's energy policy to
the ongoing reform of our healthcare system and much, much more."
Formed in 2011, the Policy Resolution Group at Bracewell & Giuliani
