BRIEF: Coalition for a Safe Danville to meet Thursday

Jan 31, 2013 (Danville Register & Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Coalition for a Safe Danville will meet Thursday afternoon at Westwood Middle School to discuss the blight housing issue facing the city and the preliminary 2012 crime report.


A presentation will be made on the current housing situation. Danville City Manager Joe King is "proposing a war on blight" that will be centered on stricter code enforcement, increase in demolitions and new code enforcement tools, according to a news release from the city.

The coalition was formed by the Danville City Council to unite the community, share information and develop strategies to make Danville a safer place. Membership is open to any individual or organization interested in crime prevention in Danville.
