UN panel predicts more extreme weather

Jan 15, 2013 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change will release a new report in September 2013. On 15 January, a scientist contributing to the report, Scott Power, said that events such as Australia's recent heatwave are likely to heighten as climate change intensifies. He made the comment at the Panel's Hobart conference. The Panel did not directly attribute the heatwave and accompanying bushfires to climate change.
