SQLC Charitable Foundation Gives Nearly $100,000 to Senior Focused Organizations Across Country

Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC) Charitable Foundation continued its tradition of giving back to the community by making contributions of nearly $100,000 to charities in the markets it serves during 2012. The announcement was made by Teresa Bates, Executive Director of the SQLC Charitable Foundation.

In 2008, SQLC, parent company of six high-end senior living communities - Edgemere in Dallas, The Buckingham in Houston, Querencia at Barton Creek in Austin, Mirador in Corpus Christi, The Stayton at Museum Way in Fort Worth, and The Barrington of Carmel in Indianapolis - founded the SQLC Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that operates to make grants to support programs and services that advance the interests of seniors, from Alzheimer's research to education.

"Through our six communities, the Foundation has the ability to touch so many lives," said Bates. "With the help of our residents, staff and vendors, 2012 was our strongest year yet in terms of giving back. With each passing year, we hope to extend our reach to many more charities that share our mission of helping improve the lives of seniors."

In Dallas, Edgemere and the SQLC Charitable Foundation partnered to supportBaylor University's Louise Herrington School of Nursing, Greater Dallas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, The Senior Source (News - Alert), and Texas Woman's University Foundation.

In Houston, The Buckingham and the SQLC Charitable Foundation donated funds to local organizations including CanCare, Amazing Place, Alzheimer's Association, Baylor College of Medicine's Huffington Center on Aging, and InterFaith Care Partners.

In Austin, Querencia and the SQLC Charitable Foundation contributed to The Gathering, Mobile Art Program, and Rebekah Baines Johnson Center.

In Corpus Christi, Mirador and the SQLC Charitable Foundation supported the ALS Association, Senior Companions, Corpus Christi Senior Community Service Programs (Meals on Wheels), and Catch the Cure, the Coastal Bend Parkinson's Group.

In Fort Worth, The Stayton at Museum Way and the SQLC Charitable Foundation participated in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's event, and also made donations to The Texas Health Harris Methodist Foundation and the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.

In Carmel, Indiana, The Barrington of Carmel and the SQLC Charitable Foundation made a donation as part of the community's groundbreaking celebration to the Duke Energy (News - Alert) Helping Hand Program, which assists customers who are least likely able to cope with winter electric bills.

"The population is aging at a rapid rate, which means more and more seniors and their families will need help.
