School Choice Advocates to Rally for Reform As Cross-Country, Whistle-Stop Tour Rolls into Erie
ERIE, Pa. --(Business Wire)--
School choice advocates from across Pennsylvania will gather in Erie on
Thursday, Jan. 31 to welcome the arrival of the National School Choice
Week 'Special,' America's first cross-country, whistle-stop tour in
support of education reform.
Students, parents, teachers and activists will gather at the Erie Art
Museum on Jan. 31 at 4:30 p.m. at a special reception to celebrate
National School Choice Week 2013 and raise awareness about the
importance of enhancing educational options for all children in the
Keystone State.
"We look forward to our stop in Erie, where bold reformers continue to
fight for greater access to quality schools for all children," said
Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "This tour
will celebrate the choices that parents have, while providing a platform
for students, parents, teachers and community leaders to demand the
choices that they don't have."
Campanella will speak at the event along with Pennsylvania Rep. Jim
Christiana, R-Monaca, the Co-Chairs of Kitchen Table Patriots, Ana Puig
and Anastasia Przybylski, Commonwealth Education Association Director
Cheryl Boise, and Virginia Walden Ford, a school choice pioneer who as
among the second wave of students to integrate Little Rock Central High
School in Arkansas and helped create the Washington, D.C. Opportunity
Scholarship Program.
National School Choice Week is planning the event in cooperation with
FreedomWorks, Free To Choose Network and K-12 Schools.
