The Wine Advocate and eRobertParker.com to Expand Offerings
MONKTON, MD, Dec 10, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
Wine collectors, connoisseurs and industry professionals will soon
enjoy more content from the global leader and guide to fine wine for
more than 30 years. The Wine Advocate and eRobertParker.com will be
expanding its online and print mediums with financing from a private
investor group.
"From the beginning days of The Wine Advocate back in 1978, when the
publication was a simple, eight-page document, my vision and goal was
to create a body of wine knowledge that exceeded anything the world
had ever seen," said founder and wine critic, Robert M. Parker, Jr.
"I never dreamed that the technology revolution would be such a
welcome catalyst of this development. I also never dreamed The Wine
Advocate would sweep across the civilized world with an impact that
was beyond my wildest dreams. The dream, the vision, the commitment
to wine consumers for fair and independent content continues. I wish
I were 25 years younger as I feel so excited about the new investor
team and what we can accomplish."
Mr. Parker will continue to operate the business as chief executive
officer and chairman of The Wine Advocate board from the company's
Monkton, Md., headquarters while still doing what he loves: reviewing
the wines of Bordeaux, the Rhone and California verticals. Aligning
coverage in the online and print editions, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, one
of only a few females to hold a Master of Wine qualification
worldwide, will become editor-in-chief based out of Singapore.
Continuing with the utmost integrity as an independent guide, the
private investors, offering years of business and technology
experience, also will be based out of Singapore.
The exciting infusion of resources will offer subscribers more of
what they have come to trust from the world's most influential wine
critics. Coverage of top-producing regions will grow, including more
reviews focused on the heart of the business in the United States.
Additional expansion will take place throughout Asia, Europe and
Latin America -- including wine education conferences planned around
the world.
Additionally, many new features in the works include mobile
applications, more videos, a PDF for electronic subscribers, virtual
tastings and a new program designed to take advantage of a
state-of-the-art technology platform. Finally, a new program aimed at
retailers, producers, distributors and restaurateurs, is planned.
