UCAN Selects Defran Systems to Support its Wide Range of Youth and Family Programs
New York, NY, Dec 04, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) --
UCAN, a leading Chicago-based, multi-faceted social service agency which offers children, teenagers and families the support and skills necessary to break cycles of abuse and neglect, today announced it has selected Defran as its electronic health record (EHR) vendor of choice. UCAN provides a wide range of human services in the areas of youth development, violence prevention as well as traditional child welfare programs to its community and chose Defran's flexible EHR and financial management solution to meet their unique needs.
UCAN began their software evaluation last year seeking a flexible solution with automated and streamlined billing processes to replace their homegrown system. Since they maintain a large network of services for children and have a specific set of billing needs, they were particularly interested in Defran's robust EHR and financial management system. Working closely with Defran's solution experts enabled UCAN to become develop in-depth system knowledge to inform their software selection.
"We offer a wide variety of programs, from managing our therapeutic youth home and working with foster families to comprehensive education and violence prevention services," Thomas Vanden Berk, chief executive officer, UCAN. "As a result, we have a number of diverse billing methodologies we are contractually obligated to support. These include bed and attendance-based billing, traditional fee-for-service billing and billing for a network of collaborative partners that creates a unique set of challenges. Defran was the perfect fit for our complex set of needs."
"Defran's solution will also benefit our IT staff," added Vanden Berk. "Their full-featured offering, cloud hosting options and robust reporting functionality ensure we can outsource much of the day-to-day technical and administrative upkeep, giving our IT staff the time to proactively implement new ideas and improve our business processes."
"We are pleased UCAN has decided to partner with Defran," said Greg Travis, vice president of sales, Defran Systems. "It's not an easy task to juggle numerous contracts and billing methodologies, and we've built our solutions to help organizations such as UCAN tackle these types of challenges. We look forward to introducing them to the remainder of the Defran customer community and ensuring a smooth implementation."
