BEIJING, Nov 26, 2012 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
The 10 individuals and groups
chosen by netizens as "China's Good Samaritans" for the fourth
quarter of 2012 were unveiled on Monday following seven days of
voting by web users.
All ordinary people, they include a 17-year-old boy who rescued
a woman from the Yangtze River, and a group of Xiamen University
students who helped build a reading room and a basketball court
for students in underdeveloped regions.
Between Nov. 20-26, the public were asked to vote online for
their favorites from a shortlist of 20 nominees.
The 10 latest winners will contest an annual final poll along
with 30 other individuals and groups chosen in previous quarters.
Held since 2010 and sponsored by Xinhua News Agency, the event
has evolved to be a major format for recognizing good samaritanism
in China.
